5 Reasons to Use Video on your Website

Using video on your website is a great way to increase the popularity of your web pages and let visitors get to know more about you and what you have to offer.  You can easily embed a YouTube video on any page on your website using one of the many great plug-ins on the market.  (Hint – do a search for video plug-ins from the Plugins menu on the backend of your website)

Here are 5 reasons you should be using video on your website.  I’ll be following my own advice and adding video to my site this week!

1.  Enhance Your Website

  • Add  promotional videos that explains who you are and what you have to offer
  • Add a website tour that tells visitors what they can find and where to find it
  • Add a virtual tour that lets visitors see your physical location

2.  Demonstrate a Product

  • Demonstrate how to install or set up your products
  • Show your product in action
  • Train clients and staff remotely

3.  Share Expertise

  • Create educational videos related to your industry
  • Produce a video newscast on the latest headlines in your area of expertise
  • Publish other expert videos related to your industry or niche

4.  Drive Traffic

  • Use targeted keywords when adding titles and tags to your videos
  • Create a variety of videos focusing on different search terms
  • Use several video sharing sites to increase links back to your website

5. Promote a Sale or Special Event

  • Show off new products
  • Add promo codes within videos to reward viewers
  • Notify customers of upcoming specials

  1. Great post.  I’m a video virgin and I need to learn this.  Your post came at the right time to push me towards learning this.

  2. Thank you C. Lee Reed, glad it was helpful.  I’ve been reluctant to do video but I’m pushing myself to get one done this week!
