Startup Stories: Sixty and Me – Where Women Over 60 Come to be Inspired!

Me Startup Stories: Sixty and Me Where Women Over 60 Come to be Inspired!

Tell us about your entrepreneurial product or service?
I started the Sixty and Me community to connect women over 60 with each other and to empower and motivate them to find their own voice and value in a transitional time of life that offers so much new opportunity. My desire is to provide ideas for turning passions into profitable work, share ways to build strong bodies and minds, and to create a mindset that sees life after sixty as a positive, vibrant and active time.

We have a very engaged online Facebook Community of 33,000 women over 60 as well as a Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube channel

What inspired you to launch your business idea?
Sixty and Me was inspired by my own desire to live a better life in my 60’s. It will hopefully motivate women around the world to find their voice and the confidence to take action to shape beautiful, active and authentic lives. This is our time. Women over 60 have lived, loved, lost and reinvented themselves many times and this site will amplify our voice!

What problem does your business or organization solve?
The problem Sixty and Me addresses is the stereotypes that face women over 60 in our society. Women over 60 are dynamic, vibrant and intelligent and want to live this ‘third act’ of their lives with verve and passion! My goal is to create an independent, healthy and financially secure lifestyle and to embrace the wonderful complexity of six amazing decades of life experience while actively shaping a meaningful and beautiful future

I also wanted to create a place where the isolation of women over 60 could be addressed and where they could talk to each other, share ideas, encourage and motivate each other.

What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur and how are you working to overcome it?
The primary challenge is reaching the community of women that will benefit from Sixty and Me. But with strong content and a social media platform strategy we have made tremendous progress in just a short period of time. Facebook in fact featured Sixty and Me as a case study of a community driven business. https://www.facebook.com/business/sixtyandme
